The Alpha-1 Foundation is committed to finding a cure for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and to improving the lives of individuals affected by Alpha-1 worldwide. To achieve these aims, the Foundation offers financial awards to support a wide range of meritorious research related to Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.

The foundation offers the following in-cycle grants:

John W. Walsh Career Development Grant

Encourage the development/testing of new hypotheses/new methods in AATD relevant research.

Funding: $100,000 per year
Duration: 3 years

 

Pilot and Feasibility Grant

provide funds to encourage the development and testing of new hypotheses and/or new methods in research areas relevant to AAT Deficiency.
Funding: $75,000
Duration: 1 year

 

Postdoctoral Research Fellowship
provide support for postdoctoral research fellows who are starting their research careers and are working in the laboratories of established researchers or conducting research with the mentorship of established researchers.
Funding: $75,000 per year
Duration: 2 years

 

Research Grants
provide funds to encourage the development of new information that contributes to the understanding of the basic biology of alpha-1 antitrypsin expression, and the pathogenesis/ management of AAT Deficiency.
Funding: $100,000 per year
Duration: 2 years
