Global Grand Challenges: Cost-Disrupting Innovations to Reduce the Cost of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food

Gates Foundation seeks innovative approaches capable of achieving at least a 30% reduction in the ex-factory unit cost of RUTF in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

Focus Areas

Applicants may propose innovations under one or more of the following focus areas:

• Protein Diversification and Dairy Replacement (Highest Priority)
• Lipid Optimization and Stabilization
• Packaging Materials Science
• Production and Supply Innovations

Option A:

Funding: up to $500,000 total 

Duration: up to 18 months. 

Option B:

Funding: $1,500,000 total 

Duration; 3 years

Both options are open to all focus areas.
