Request for Proposals: Pathogen-Agnostic Biothreat Detection

This RFP seeks to accelerate the deployment and maturation of MGS as a biosurveillance platform by funding improved computational, laboratory, and modeling methods for early pathogen detection and characterization.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are sought from groups interested in investigating the following technical areas:

• Computational detection of known and novel pathogens, including zoonotic and engineered, in MGS data
• Sample processing methods for more sensitive, sequencing-based detection and rapid validation of sequences of concern
• Modeling pathogen-agnostic biosurveillance system features such as cost, sensitivity, and optimal deployment

Total; funding for this call is $5 million, It is expected that 2-3 grants will be awarded. 

Funding: no fixed limit 

Duration: preferably up to 12 months
