Discovery Grants

Discovery Awards provides funding for established researchers and teams from any discipline who want to pursue bold and creative research ideas to deliver significant shifts in understanding that could improve human life, health and wellbeing.

PI must be based at a UK Institution. Teams can come from the same discipline or from a combination of disciplines. Members can be from the same university department or a number of organisations (anywhere in the world). Up to 8 team members may participate in one application. 

Applicants must discuss applications with the Research Authority prior to submitting any material to Wellcome Trust due to the Fund’s unconventional terms and conditions, particularly regarding IP rights. Please contact Dana Bachar (email).  

Funding: No fixed limit (average grants stand at £3.5M total)
