CDMRP Neurofibromatosis Research Program: Exploration – Hypothesis Development Award

The Exploration – Hypothesis Development Award supports the initial exploration of innovative, high-risk, high-gain, and potentially groundbreaking concepts in the NF research field. The studies supported by this award mechanism are expected to lay the groundwork for future avenues of scientific investigation.

Areas of Emphasis:

• NF2- and schwannomatosis-related areas (e.g., hearing, balance, schwannoma, ependymoma, meningioma, LZTR1, SMARCB1).
• Endpoint validation, biomarker discovery, and technological innovation for assessments
• Application of data science.
• Non-tumor manifestations
• Heterogeneity of NF-related phenotypes.
• Genetics, genomics, epigenetics, systems biology, metabolomics or similar approaches.
• Preclinical efficacy studies.
• Target identification and drug discovery.
• Nutritional, environmental, and other modifiers of NF.
• Health services research

It is expected that 8 awards will be granted.
