CDMRP Reconstructive Transplant Research Program: Concept Award

The RTRP challenges the scientific community to design innovative research that will advance science and clinical practice of vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA) to improve access, safety and quality of life for catastrophically injured Service Members, Veterans and the American public. VCA refers to the transplantation of multiple tissues such as muscle, bone, nerve, and skin, as a functional unit. 

The Concept Award aims to support the exploration of a highly innovative new concept or untested theory that addresses an important problem relevant to reconstructive transplantation and the Focus Areas delineated below: 

• Improve or optimize VCA immunosuppression
• Identify and/or validate reliable prognostic or diagnostic biomarkers, methods, or tools for monitoring the specific needs of VCA graft rejection and immunosuppression
• Advance VCA preservation strategies
• Develop tools for measuring VCA outcomes
