AFSA believes that better diagnostic tools and treatments will be made available to patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) and its overlapping conditions. Focus areas:

  • Sleep disturbances in FMS patients (TOP PRIORITY)
  • Therapeutic interventions for FMS pain
  • Chronic pain mechanisms in FMS
  • The role of neuro-endocrine-immune modulators and their receptors
  • Potential lab markers, genetic indicators, or other test measures
  • Physiologic mechanisms responsible for fatigue in FMS patients, and test pharmacological treatments
  • Evaluate neurocognitive deficits (or dyscognition) in FMS patients
