The Behavioral Health Science Award (BHSA) supports innovative research and high-reward studies that span the spectrum of behavioral health science including prevention, quality of life, symptom management, resilience, and psychosocial issues related to cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Studies are expected to address one or more of these critical issues in at least one of the FY22 PRCRP Topic Areas. 

 

  • Bladder cancer
  • Blood cancers
  • Brain cancer
  • Colorectal cancer
  • Endometrial cancer
  • Esophageal cancer
  • Germ cell caners
  • Head and neck cancers
  • Liver cancer
  • Lymphoma
  • Mesothelioma
  • Metastatic cancers
  • Myeloma
  • Neuroblastoma
  • Pediatric, adolescent, and young adult cancers
  • Pediatric brain tumors
  • Stomach cancer
  • Sarcoma
  • Thyroid cancer
  • New for FY22: Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome malignancies

 

Investigators are strongly encouraged to collaborate, integrate, and/or align their research projects with Department of Defense (DoD) and/or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) research laboratories and programs.

 

Applications must also address at least one of the FY22 PRCRP Military Relevance Focus Areas:

• Environmental/exposure risk factors associated with cancer
• Gaps in cancer research that may affect mission readiness

 

It is expected that 4 awards will be granted. 

 

 

Funding: $1,000,000 total
Duration: 4 years
